Rick Farrell self-portrait

Art has been a lifelong vocation for Rick Farrell, who has been working professionally since 1976. Born in Hollywood, California, Farrell graduated with honors from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. He works in a variety of media, but is widely recognized for his oil paintings, which have been integrated into many corporate and private collections.

Farrell has developed a working relationship over the years with numerous clients, including the National Football League, creating illustrations for their Super Bowl promotions, programs, GameDay covers, articles, and posters. In addition, he has created paintings for a promotional print series for the LA Dodgers, and the Chicago White Sox. Farrell has contributed editorial work to an extensive list of publishers, including Time Magazine, Road and Track, Motor Trend, the LA Times, D Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, Outdoor Life, Redbook, National Geographic, Saveur, and for book publishers Harcourt Brace, Random House, and Bantam Books. He recently created a vibrant series of covers for Hard Case Crime's popular retro mystery novels. Additionally he has worked on numerous film campaigns for Columbia Pictures, Paramount Pictures, MGM, Disney, Warner Brothers, Universal Pictures, and the History Channel. Farrell's corporate clients include Deere & Company, Caterpillar, McDonalds, Johnson & Johnson, Pillsbury, Ralston Purina, Princess Cruise Lines, Gorton's, 3M, Harris, Oracle, AT&T, Anheurser Busch and the Miller Brewing Company.

Exhibition venues include regular features in the New York Society of Illustrators, the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles, Communication Arts, and the NFL Hall of Fame.

Farrell is now concentrating his time on private commissions, portraiture, and personal works, continually exploring his love of the painting process.
